TREE PLANTING - A truly holistic rehabilitation to both the people and the environment.
Because it takes 2 trees to hang a hammock, Madera plants 2 trees for each hammock sold. Through our partnering with Trees for the Future, to date we have planted over 10,255 trees and counting.
Since 1989, with our partner's (trees.org) experience in planting over 115 million trees all over the world, we have demonstrated the trans-formative power of trees in helping people break out of the poverty trap while also addressing the global environment. Our goal is to raise awareness about our solution to solve hunger, poverty, and environmental degradation.
Together, we change lives.
Madera means wood-Why wood?
We started out as a group of friends who moved to Jackson Hole, WY lived in our cars, rock climbed full time and gardened part time. The summer weaned and demand for firewood waxed. Having a newly defined love for the woods we thought it would be neat to cut the dead wood out of the forest and heat people's homes. Between our group of friends we owned a truck, a chainsaw and could obtain enough firewood permits between ourselves to provide wood for the residents of Jackson Hole. With the right tools and the desire to work we went at it, and each summer we cleaned the forests and prevented wildfires from spreading and paying for college.

“I love hammock camping/Backpacking. I fell through my old one hammock and picked this hammock as my replacement.
I use my hammock for winter backpacking, hanging around the yard in the summer and general relaxation purposes. So I am looking forward to using this hammock for a while.”

“Great hammock! Simple to set up and comfortable throughout a relaxing afternoon of reading & relaxing. It had no trouble handling the swinging and arguing antics of my nieces either.
It was out of stock when I ordered it, but the folks at Madera were great about offering me alternatives and then keeping me updated after I decided to stick with the Jasmine. I was pleased with their help and service.”

“I was so excited when this arrived I threw it right in my bag and took it for a hike to test it out. It surpassed my expectations. I originally just thought this was going to be something I lounge around in but I think I'll be ditching my tent in the future and stick with the hammock. I was impressed by how durable the material/hooks were so I can't wait to get some straps next. My dad has also decided he's going to be buying one after seeing mine.”

“I took my new Apache hammock on a hike last weekend. Slept overnight with a blanket and sleeping bag. I stayed comfortable all night. I have a lot more space in this hammock than my other ones from another manufacturer. The material feels more resilient too.”

"Ordered this product from Australia, and it took just about a week to get here which is very quick and I'm grateful for that. The product itself is very well designed and easy to set up and use. Very strong and it's surprisingly comfortable to just sleep in. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I also love the idea of helping those in need."
